Conceptia Recommendations re: Zika Virus
Pregnant women, and those considering becoming pregnant, should postpone their travels until the “Travel Health Notice” Advisory has been removed.

• For updates, please refer to:
http://www.healthycanadians.gc.ca/diseases-conditions-maladies-affections/disease-maladie/zika-virus/index-eng.php

If travel cannot be postponed, strict mosquito bite prevention measures should be followed due to the possible association between Zika virus infection and increased risk of serious health effects on their developing fetus.

• For more information go to the webpage on insect bite prevention:
http://travel.gc.ca/travelling/health-safety/insect-bite

If you develop symptoms similar to Zika virus infection when you are travelling, or after you return, see a health care provider and tell them where you have been travelling or living.

If travel is not postponed:
• Partners who are planning a pregnancy should use condom protection for 6 months upon their return.
• Fertility treatments will be delayed for a minimum of 6 months.
• After 6 months, the clinic will assess if treatment is to proceed as planned or if further delay of treatment is required.

For the duration of the pregnancy, it is reasonable to consider the use of condoms for all men who have been in a Zika affected area, or for whom Zika was diagnosed.

For more information on the Zika Virus please refer to:

Notice: These recommendations will change as the Clinic receives new information on the Zika virus.

If you have any questions or concerns, please ask to speak with a nurse.
