Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET): A frozen embryo transfer involves a lot less preparation than a fresh embryo transfer because there is no ovarian stimulation and no egg retrieval. You will simply undergo hormonal treatment to prepare the endometrial lining. The embryo(s) is/are thawed and cultured for 24 hours prior to the transfer. With your consent, assisted hatching (AH) is preformed and then the embryo(s) is/are transferred in the uterus.
Frozen Blastocyst Transfer (FBT): A frozen blastocyst transfer involves a lot less preparation than a fresh embryo transfer because there is no ovarian stimulation and no egg retrieval. You will simply undergo hormonal treatment to prepare the endometrial lining. The blastocyst(s) is/are thawed and then transferred in the uterus.
The exact quantity of embryos to be transferred will be determined following a discussion between the couple and the Medical Director. Multiple factors such as the age of the female patient at the time of the egg retrieval, the results of previous transfers, the quality of the embryos and the acceptance of the risk of multiple pregnancies by the couple.
