With same sex female couples, the result of the investigation often helps them determine which one of them is most likely to conceive. The health of the person who will carry the foetus, or baby to be born, is also one of our main priorities.
Couples wish to conceive a child together and take collaborative responsibility for that child; therefore, regardless of the sexual orientation of the couple, the screening of some sexually transmitted infections (e.g. Hepatitis B and C, HIV, etc.) for both partners is required in order to prevent problems and complications that might affect the pregnancy itself and the health of both mother and child.
Usual wait time is six months.
